I met John downtown on Friday evening with a bottle of bubbly in hand and we headed to our friend's new apartment for a get-together. AJ laid out an impressive homemade spread, there were philosophical discussions and John even pulled out the cocktail tins (he just can't help himself), but despite the wonderful company, my favorite part of the night was heading home hand in hand with my guy.
We woke up late the next morning and decided to join the rest of San Francisco having brunch alfresco. We snagged seats at Sea Breeze and enjoyed the sunshine along with breakfast–chipotle eggs benedict, whole wheat pancakes and plenty of coffee! Then we strolled home for a lazy afternoon, which I'd been looking forward to all week. Eventually we made a pilgrimage to Andronico's for picnic provisions, headed to Golden Gate Park and took advantage of the last few hours of daylight to enjoy an early supper. When John's fingers were just about frozen, we dove back under the covers for a movie and an early bedtime.
We were up early on Sunday morning and got right to the business of cooking up an enormous Spanish tortilla. After breakfast, we both got to work–me at the computer, John at the guitar. I spent the day with some gorgeous weddings, then practiced a little yoga before diving back in to plan my spring editorial calendar. Lucky for me, John kept busy with errands, practice and a dear friend's recital, but we ended the night together with a spicy dish of chana masala and the first few UP documentaries for a perfect Sunday evening in.
Tell me, were you celebrating St. Patrick's Day with a glass of green beer, or ringing in spring with a little alfresco dining?
