Innocents Abroad Cocktail

Friday, May 16, 2014

John and I were gifted a bottle of homemade limoncello a few weeks ago, and we've been experimenting with lemony cocktails ever since. The addition of gin and tonic makes for a fresh spring sipper we can't get enough of!

 Innocents Abroad

1 oz gin
1 oz limoncello
1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
tonic water
mint for garnish
Combine gin, limoncello and lemon juice in a shaker with ice; shake for 10-15 seconds. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice, then top with tonic water and garnish with freshly slapped mint.

Notes: A more floral gin will perform best in this sipper. I've been dying to try it with soda water instead of tonic, and I bet a bit of sparkling wine would be delicious, too–cheers!
