Tiki almost always means rum, but this gin-based cocktail is a winner–and one of John's favorites to pull out when you need a bit of summer in a glass.
Saturn
1 1/4 oz gin
1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz passion fruit syrup
1/4 falernum
1/4 orgeat syrup
Combine ingredients with ice in a blender; blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
Notes: The Saturn is rich enough to withstand a good beating in the blender (as so many of my favorite vacation drinks are), but you can also make this cocktail in a shaker with crushed ice. If you're willing to commit to a Tiki weekend, you can actually make your own falernum and orgeat syrups–but Fee Brothers' syrup should be relatively easy to find, and our favorite Small Hand Foods can be replaced by the almond syrup you see at coffee shops. As for gin, use something that's lighter on the juniper–with so many strong flavors, there's no need to throw another one in the mix. Cheers!
