Imperfect buttercream pearls and fragrant gardenias are the perfect accessories for a classic confection like this one. While a magazine-cover cake is covet-able, there's something absolutely charming about the flaws.
I totally agree. My first thought when I saw this picture was, "Oh, I want to eat that!" So many other wedding cakes are works of art, but don't make you want to grab a fork and dig in. You know?
It's perfect! We have clients tying the knot at a magical venue {The Ruins in Seattle} who are going all-out with eclectic and royal details. But their cake is a great treat; a run-your-fingers-through-the-frosting buttercream cake. I think it's my favorite element of their wedding!
so true! we had little wooden cows for cake toppers, and one of them slid off the cake mid-reception! we just turned the cake around so no one could see the frosting smudges :-) still delicious!

charming is right! you want it to look edible, not airbrushed!

ReplyDeletei definitely don't mind the imperfections. just as long as it tastes good, we're in business! and it still looks pretty, anyway.

ReplyDeleteLove it - makes it look more "real" and probably tastes better too :)
ReplyDeleteI agree! It looks like a well worn building and I like that.
ReplyDeleteThe imperfections definitely add to that charm of the cake and in my opinion butter cream is so much more tasty than the flawless fondant
ReplyDeleteI'll take buttercream over fondant any day!
ReplyDeletesimple and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI must say there is something eye-catching about perfectly laid fondant. BUT, I'm a buttercream girl alllll the way.

ReplyDeleteI have to agree. With anything in life, the flaws seem to make things a little bit more perfect :)
