No 479: the Beach

Thursday, April 15, 2010

It's so easy to forget how lucky you are. You get busy with work or school, and forget what a blessing it is to have a job, or study something you're passionate about. You get wrapped up in crossing things off a to-do list (one of my all-time favorite pastimes) and forget to enjoy the coffee you're drinking.

Late last night, I went for a walk. I'd had a challenging 30 hours, and I had cleaned and organized every inch of the apartment, thinking that bringing order to my things would subdue the chaos. But when the house was perfect, I didn't feel better. I felt a little crazy.

So I put my shoes on, and went for a walk. I live 6 blocks from the beach, and truth be told, I'm not there nearly as often as I'd like to be. Listening to the waves crashing on the shore, inhaling the cool night air, I finally felt like I could shake off the last few hours, and go back to being myself.

I encourage you to put your shoes on (or take them off) and walk. Find a park in full bloom, or an art museum. Take a few moments this weekend to enjoy.

And while you're at it, this wedding won't hurt. Photographed by White Album Weddings, the bride's mother's company and featured on Style Me Pretty, this Vancouver wedding is absolutely heavenly.
