No 139: Real Wedding: Catherine and Hans

Sunday, May 31, 2009

This Seattle wedding is too damn cool. Hans, the groom, told Vintage Glam Weddings, "We had a piano player and typewriter theme. The actual invites were old player piano rolls, with added maps, menu, directions, and rsvp postcard. The tables were dressed with a typewriter on one end of the table, with a player piano roll fed through them, and the roll ran the length of the table as runners. We had vintage candelabras and drippy candles mixed with blue glass mason/ball jars and white lillies everywhere." The groom designed all stationery, from save the date cards to ceremony programs. He designed a set of symbols designed for their place cards, favors, and food choices. He even sewed the bride's wedding dress, for Heaven's sake! Sounds like a keeper. Photographs by Kristina Goudey of Goudey Photographs, a friend of the bride and groom.

No 138: the Most Magical Cupcakes!

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Cinderella cupcakes.
The dusty rose cupcake.
The butterfly garden.
The English rose in a teacup.
Holy Hell, that's a cupcake. I can imagine that much buttercream and fondant could be sort of disgusting to consume, but they're such incredible works of art. Made by Cupcake D'lights, a bakery based in South Africa, we probably won't be getting our mouths on them anytime soon. Spotted on the Bride's Cafe, the first one is my favorite-perfect for a bridal shower.

No 137: the Love Affair

A vintage Rolls, John in a tuxedo and a perfectly overcast day at a vineyard-that's what I want. Beautiful photograph by Meg Smith.

No 136: the High Heel Alphabet

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Spotted on Mika78-I adore this. "H", "T" and "U" are my favorites.

No 135: the Decorative Tape

What will people think up next? Made by a company called TapeSwell, this decorative tape can be used to...seal things. I couldn't think of anything else, unless you actually wanted to use the tape as an trim of some sort. The damask print reminded me of dear Becky, enjoying the Philadelphia weather and her sweetheart.

No 134: the Vintage Bridal Clutch

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Chlorine, a Los Angeles based vintage handbag boutique, has some incredible bridal clutches in addition to a slew of really beautiful refurbished and embellished bags. The "Faith" clutch features lace and a lovely clasp, but I absolutely adore the faux mink "Scarlet": perfect for a winter wedding with a matching chubby.

What's better than Martha Stewart for design inspiration and photographs to make you drool? Nothin'!

What's better than Crane's for stationery (they print money on this stuff, for God's sake!)? Nothin'!

So what could I possibly tell you that would blow your mind? That Martha Stewart has teamed up with Crane's to print its own amazing wedding stationery! I know, you're reeling. Just look at the photos. There are more on the website.

No 132: a Memorial Day Treat

What does one say? Photos c/o SWNS, story from the Telegraph.

No 131: Real Wedding: Jennifer and Brigg

Sunday, May 24, 2009

Jennifer & Briggs were married in a little chapel that used to be a schoolhouse near the shore of Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia; It was the first wedding held inside the chapel! Jennifer wore a beautiful, custom-made dress which I think looked so adorable and sweet (and not unlike a certain Oscar de la Renta). Guests found their way to the chapel in golf carts; The red one was a custom model for the newlyweds (wonder if they'll keep it?) Photographs by Holland Photo Arts.

No 130: the Undead Cakes

Saturday, May 23, 2009

And finally, the pièce de résistance: the Undead Wedding Cake. Now I understand there's a whole, "Until death do us part" business, but I'm quite sure that's not the part of the vows one should emphasize on their big day.Ah yes, your pebbly cremated ashes along side your autopsied bodies. It looks like they died in some sort of horrible body contortion class; why are their feet like that?Nothing says, "I love you" like elaboratly carved coffins. Ew, ew, a hundred times ew. "Until death do us part", by why undead? This one is, in my opinion, the strangest. It's a perfectly average cake with little frosting hearts and rose petals. But it's bleeding. And not artisically fallen ganache bleeding; This looks like red food coloring and water, and it's peeing all over the cake table. Why, cake gods (aka bakers)? But thank you, Cake Wrecks, for introducing us to such strange creations.

No 129: the Lego Cakes

Don't get me wrong; These are awesome. But who of legal age to marry likes Legos this much?
