Winter White

Tuesday, December 20, 2016

What a semester! These last few weeks have been challenging, but it is an unending privilege to do what I love each and every day. I hope that as 2016 comes to a close, you're all feeling the same way about your work—whether that's coordinating weddings and designing floral arrangements, tackling problems that will change the world (or one little piece of it), volunteering to help others, or taking care of your families.

After a lighting-fast trip to Tulsa for a beautiful winter wedding, I'm absolutely thrilled to be spending our first holiday in Michigan—we'll have a white Christmas for sure! I've planned the two-day menu, though admittedly I haven't shopped for a thing yet. Just one exam to grade and a last assignment to submit before I can devote myself to tree-trimming and listening to Aaron Neville on repeat. Wishing you all a lovely holiday!

Kristin & Scott

For Kristin and Scott, wedding planning began with the venue for their wintry destination celebration. Le Château Montebello in Quebec was large enough for friends and family to all stay together, and the rustic-lodge-meets-luxury feel matched the couple's aesthetic to a t. With the help of wedding planner Lynn Lee, guests enjoyed sleigh rides through the snow, thoughtful details and a bright celebration in the middle of a long, cold winter.

Kristin wore "Sage", a satin mermaid gown by Anne Barge with lace detailing at the neckline and satin-covered buttons down the back. Simple pearl studs highlighted her elegant low chignon, and a fur stole was perfect for the wintery weather conditions. Her lush white bouquet by Full Bloom was wrapped in cozy brown velvet, and perfectly complimented Scott and his groomsmen's boutonnieres, pinned to classic tuxedo lapels.

Scott and Kristin walked down the aisle of the Heritage Room, a log cabin on the Château Montebello's property, together and exchanged wedding vows in a personalized ceremony. Following their "I do's", the newlyweds and their guests dined in the elegantly appointed Canada Room. Candelabras lit three long tables for the couple's 95 guests, who dined on a seasonal menu. Hot cocoa favors tied with velvet ribbon were a sweet end to a chilly winter evening, and Kristin and Scott's celebration was the perfect beginning of their married life.

Of course, the gorgeous images by Joel Bedford must make it easy for the couple to reminisce about their wonderful wedding day. Tell me, what photo or detail do you love most from this wintry destination celebration?
