Friday evening was for fêting a favorite member of our team, and a truly dear friend–after we discovered the restaurant where we'd made reservations was closed for renovation, we were able to snag a huge table at Picaro and let our Spaniard order for everyone. Pitchers of sangria were as plentiful as office gossip, and after the celebration I hung out at Zero Zero while John finished up work and the Giants fans headed home. We were both glad to put the long week behind us (anyone else feel like four-day weeks have you playing catch up?), and fell asleep looking forward to two whole days of peace and quiet.
Of course, John was up early on Saturday morning, and while he ran errands, I happily stayed curled up in bed. We decided to skip breakfast and go straight to lunch–Vietnamese food, to be precise–and then I got on the road to collect some sweets, leaving John behind at home to work on a new concerto. When I finally turned onto our street, ice cream melting all over the seat of the car and my black t-shirt dress, I couldn't have been more relieved to see him sprinting toward me, towel in hand! John expertly rigged our freezer to hold the over-sized confection, and then we curled up for an episode of Breaking Bad and one very long nap. After an indulgent afternoon, we figured we should keep the good stuff coming, and whipped up a taco feast, complete with a four-avocado guacamole and a Negro Modelo!
Our Saturday night in spelled another early morning, but this time I was ready for it! John and I scrubbed and swept, and once the house was in order, we walked towards the beach for breakfast and to run a few errands. A giant bag of laundry in hand, John charmed me with his preparations for Tuesday's Cointreau competition and we headed home to tackle to our to-do lists. With the exception of a few cuddle breaks, it was a fantastically productive afternoon filled with French diction practice, blogging and lots of music. We may have to make Sunday nights our new Indian date night, since these days John is bartending on Friday, but I don't mind–paneer tikka korma and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen was the perfect way to part with the weekend!
Tell me, what were you up to this weekend, or looking forward to in the coming week?
