This lovely photo reminded me of our first trip to wine country–we were with close friends of ours headed to downtown Yountville for sandwiches and sweets at Bouchon Bakery when the sky opened up and started pouring! We pulled into the very next winery, which happened to be Mumm Napa and ran inside to dry off and drink some bubbly. After a five-glass tasting flight (and plenty of giggling over the Santana sparkler), we were all dry enough to forage for lunch. Despite the lasting impression the afternoon made on me, I couldn't remember a single glass when John asked me what my favorite bottle had been!
Have you ever visited the wineries of Northern California? What were your favorite discoveries or souvenirs?

Would LOVE to go to Napa..it's on my list!! LOVE that label!! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteMumm is so fun. I yearn to go back out there. We had a lot of fun at Schramsberg and Gloria Ferreira, too!
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit some wineries :)
ReplyDeleteNo, I've never been & it tops my travel wish list. My family lives in Southern California so every trip to Cali means visiting them which does include my favorite winery, Wilson Creek. Someday, I'll make it to Napa!
ReplyDeleteI've only ever visited one winery and it was in Long Island. I just remember drinking way too much wine and then dancing around with my girlfriends in the back of the place. Good times.
ReplyDeleteOh, Lena I love this story!! We love Napa... and especially Sonoma. We stumbled upon Quivira in a similar way and we've loved it ever since.
ReplyDeleteHappiest weekend!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget wineries in other parts of California! There are some lovely wineries right by my house in the Salinas valley.
ReplyDeleteHi you have a beautiful space and great post, if you like the poetry I invite you to my blog, have a good week. greetings from Valencia
ReplyDeleteGet this. I grew up in the Bay Area and JUST made it to wine country this spring. Crazy, right? Since I went to school in Santa Barbara, we did our tastings in Santa Ynez (equally amazing) but there's just something about Northern CA, isn't there? I really loved my day in Sonoma a couple of months ago. It had me dreaming of retiring on a vineyard some day. Swoon.
ReplyDeleteWe spent a day in Sonoma a few years ago but I'm dying to go back!
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart! We visited Mumm when we went looking for our wedding vineyard, fell in love and served Mumm at our wedding. It was the first thing to run out and everyone got pretty sad about it! So tasty!
ReplyDeleteNice post. I went through the post I found it very informative and useful. Thanks for sharing.
