I don't care if admitting this makes me a bit of a nerd-I've been missing my summer of scotch, suits and flashy campaigns! We certainly weren't waiting at home all weekend for a glimpse of Don Draper-John and I enjoy my gratuitous Friday off and celebrated some wonderful news with a sushi date at our favorite place,
Jimisan. We spent most of Saturday curled up in bed with good books and cups of
Peet's Coffee, and enjoyed the most divine Sunday brunch–brioche cinnamon toast with plenty of local fresh fruit from the
Ferry Plaza Farmers Market–not to mention a roast chicken for supper!
But despite all sorts of heavenly goings on this weekend, I do feel a little hole in my heart that Mad Men is on hiatus. I'll assume I'm not the only one desperate for a little 60s chic, and hope you'll join me for a week of all things mod–including maybe my favorite wedding of all time.
Madly in Love Save the Date from the
Wedding Chicks.
I just watched the first episode of Mad Men last night! My only complaint is that Christina Hendricks wasn't in every scene.
ReplyDeleteAH! so sad mad men has been gone so long...i even got h hooked on the show last season. i feel your pain lady. glad you two had a good weekend tho :) brioche cinnamon toast?! yes please :) xoxo jillian:: cornflake dreams

ReplyDeleteI love these lil save the date cards and Mad Men! Seriously, the show needs to come on NOW!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great weekend! And I'm with you on that one... miss Madmen big time!
ReplyDeleteI am a Mad Men fanatic. We even dressed up and had a cocktail party for last season's premiere. I am going to need a Don Draper fix soon!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to mod week on the blog :)
how cute! I havent had a chance to get into that show. but I really want to!
ReplyDeleteI am totally bummed it's not on right now. It really needs to be - it holds a special place in my heart! Luckily Project Runway and Breaking Bad are all on right now which makes it a little easier. But once it comes back on the air (who knows when) it will be GLORIOUS!
ReplyDeleteSuch a good show. Seriously. And that is the cutest Save the Date. Hope your weekend was lovely anyhow.
ReplyDelete:)
It sounds like you had a marvelous weekend....you know, we are kind of {just a wee bit} longing for our favorite television shows to come back next month. But dare I say that means summer will come to an end!
ReplyDeleteThose are great! I do need a little Don Draper in my life.
ReplyDeletenot alone! so missing mad men!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Mad Men and since we don't have cable I generally get obsessed with shows after they are super popular because I get the DVDs. My current obsession is Big Love and it devastates me that it ended now that I am fully addicted!
ReplyDeleteLove love love Mad Men. Totally with you! And now I'm craving sushi!
ReplyDeleteawww. :) i JUST started watching mad men and it just hasn't grown on me in that I-have-to-watch-it-RIGHT-now kind of way. i do like it though and i'll join your 60's chic-fest summer party, lena. :)
ReplyDeleteMe too!! Hubs and I miss it so much we just started re-watching Season 1 again on Netflix :-)
ReplyDeleteI definitely cannot wait until the new season comes out either! Your weekend sounds fabulous, oh how I love the Ferry Building Market!

ReplyDeleteMad Men is so you! Chic, flirty, and attentive to detail.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Ferry Building is one of my favorite places. We should meet up when I get back!
Confession: I've never watched Mad Men. In a few hours the Bachelorette will be over (thank God in heaven) and perhaps I will need to jump on this MM train with some netflix...

ReplyDeletei was so sad it wasn't back on this summer. anxiously awaiting its return too!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh. every night i say the same thing to kenny, "i miss my mad." i am so utterly addicted its unnatural. cannot wait for the new season, though january feels SO far away!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I am a kind of stranger but have never seen any Mad Men episode!!! YOur cocktails cheer me up and smoothen my post vacational syndrom!!!! a big kiss
ReplyDeleteI have the first season of Mad Men on DVD and I STILL haven't watched it all! But I must admit, the episodes I watched, I loved. Unfortunately, people don't seem to be very into it here in NZ, and it's only on TV at really weird times...

Completely ready for my Mad Men to come back. Your weekend sounded absolutely perfect, especially Saturday - oh, to spend all day in bed with good books and coffee...can I go home now and do that?
ReplyDeletei love the show and can't belive they won't be coming back until next year... on the other hand i'm very upset that the shows on cable are only 10 episodes these days... anyways let's hope MM comes back soon... ha!
ReplyDeleteSo upset with them you have no idea!! I cannot believe they are doing this to us..and when it returns the Mad Man himself will be directing some of them...I was born to late. I sooo love that era...xoxo
ReplyDeleteyour weekend activities always sound so sumptuous. bring on the week of mod...I'm on board!
ReplyDeleteNo matter what, you always make everything look "mad men" to me! You are so lovely. Thank you for all the sweet comments. They truly have made my days so much brighter!! Hope you are having a lovely week! xo Samantha
