Lora and Mike

I think every girl who loves weddings has a favorite movie wedding–for me, it's always been Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire on the lawn beside that gorgeous French cathedral in Funny Face. Never mind that it's not actually a wedding–her off-the-shoulder tea length tulle gown and posy of lily of the valley have always been a benchmark of loveliness I've measured all other nuptials against.

So when I spotted this wedding last year, complete with a Funny Face dress and some seriously sparkly Jimmy Choo slingbacks, it won a place in my heart right away. I've been holding onto it, waiting for the perfect week to share it with all of you, and I'm delighted that it's finally here!

Lora describes her wedding as "eclectic, laid back, vintage, alternative", and while it certainly breaks the mold, there's nothing about it that isn't pretty. That gorgeous gown was custom made by an LA designer, and her bridesmaids wore vintage dresses in shades of green that suited the foliage-dominated bouquets Lora's mother and her mother's best friend created perfectly. Mike and his groomsmen wore dark suits and charmingly mismatched shirts and bow ties.

After an outdoor ceremony beneath a magnificent tree, guests dined on Southern Indiana fare from Light House Lunch Box Diner in Bloomington, IN; barbecue, corn on the cob and local brews were served, and the lemon poppy seed cake was a sweet conclusion to the organic feast. DJ Seth Mahern kept the crowd on their feet with old funk and soul records, and Megan of Megan W Photography was on hand capturing each charming moment. Thank you Megan, for letting me feature Lora and Mike's delightful celebration!

  24. you know what I want to know? how much cute weddings like this actually cost to pull off. We're in the beginning stages of budget-drafting and I'm facing a lot of sticker shock. (this wedding is lovely, as usual!)

  27. In love with her perfectly styled but not overdone bridal look. Her man looks pretty dapper, too! This is my kind of wedding - classy and timeless but really down to earth (love that they had bbq and local brews!).

And I've always liked that way of spelling "Laura/Lora."
