Real Wedding: Brenda and Scott

Sunday, September 5, 2010

Brenda and Scott's intimate wedding on Maryland's Eastern Shore seemed like the perfect way to celebrate the unofficial end of summer. After deciding a large wedding didn't suit, the couple invited 15 of their closest family and friends to join them for the weekend at the Inn at Perry Cabin.

The newlyweds met at art school, where Scott honed an eye for design and Brenda studied photography. It should come as no surprise, then, that bride and groom carefully considered their respective arts' roles in their wedding; the groom designed a 10 x 16 poster as an invitation, and the couple screen printed them, as well as response cards, envelopes and menus by hand, while the bride chose Kate Headley to photograph their wedding exclusively on film. Brenda wore an elegant Nicole Miller gown and hunter green Kate Spade slingbacks, while Scott exuded preppy confidence in a jacket by Thomas Pink and khakis.

In lieu of a traditional procession, the wedding's officiant entered the garden where the guests were waiting, followed by Brenda and Scott together. Their siblings read from The Little Prince, Ecclesiastes and Still Life with Woodpecker, and after the ceremony, guests enjoyed lunch at a single table. They dined on classic Maryland dishes-crab cakes, rockfish and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Murdoch Gardens designed the green and white centerpieces, featuring the hydrangeas that filled the lawns of the Inn.

A stunning summer wedding, wouldn't you agree?

  4. Oh my, everything about this wedding is perfect and gorgeous!

Also, that's wild that your friend's husband is J. Roddy! I'm guessing you've probably been to some great shows of theirs, then, maybe even as they were getting their start. Awesome!
