No 195: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Friday, July 31, 2009

Beautiful wedding in Nestldown photographed by Elizabeth Messina, spotted on her blog, Kiss the Groom. Check out the whole gorgeous affair, but don't be surprised if you San Franciscans think it looks familiar-this lovely couple absolutely took a page out of Heather Mathew's recent nuptials.

No 194: Engagement on the Farm

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Between the bicycle and the peaches, the way the sun is streaming through the trees in the orchard, these engagement photographs by Simply Bloom are perfect.

No 193: Mason's Save the Dates

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

When I saw this Mason jar Save the Date, I think I actually squealed with excitement. It's such an adorable way to communicate the country warmth of your wedding day, and besides that, I just adore Mason jars. Found on Oh So Beautiful Paper.

No 192: Glam Wedding

How I adore this shot of Mick and Bianca Jagger on their wedding day-his ecstatic expression, the bottle of champagne in the classic car, her knockout rose-covered hat with veil (and so much cleavage in her wedding dress!). And is that a joint? Somethings are just too too.

No 191: Rustic Bubbly

Monday, July 27, 2009

There's a short list of things I love more than champagne, and I think this beautiful image is just the way to start off a wonderful week. Photo c/o Jim Bastardo for Brides.com.

No 190: Real Wedding: Hanna and Jacob

Sunday, July 26, 2009

I can't stand how much I adore this wedding! Pasadena couple Hanna and Jacob were photographed by Max Wagner and married at a historic hotel with Moorish, Turkish and Victorian influences that's now an artists commune. The gown is a beautiful Pronovia Manuel Mota design and those amazing shoes were a collaboration between Viviene Westwood and Melissa.

No 189: Me!

Saturday, July 25, 2009

John is a cookies and milk kind of guy. Never having been exposed to such delights before I meet John, I am now a cookies and milk kind of girl. Honest, we will crawl out of a warm bed in the middle of January for cookies at midnight if the craving strikes hard enough. So to honor that, I want to send guests off with our favorite way to end an evening. For now, John's favorite cookies are Pepperidge Farm's Tahiti cookies, a coconut with chocolate that are to die for, but I'd love to do several different kinds. And as far as milk is concerned, we're sure to have a serious debate. John will lobby for whole, while I defend the health benefits of skim, and we'll probably serve 2%, because it's the best to dunk cookies in. Photo c/o Martha Stewart Weddings.

No 188: Kelly

Friday, July 24, 2009

For what will no doubt be an enormous Italian ceremony, I would love to see Kelly nod to her heritage in a modern way. Romans used to shower newlyweds with almonds, and dragees, almonds coated in sugar, are the most traditional wedding favor to date. These beautiful jars are actually full of honey-soaked almonds. Doesn't that sound delicious? Photo c/o Martha Stewart Weddings.

No 187: Cara

For Cara's beach wedding in Virgina, I love these lobster lollies. Crabs available too, for a "taste" of Maryland. The deliciousness of candy without all the fuss of a candy bar! Besides, who doesn't love a sucker? Photos c/o Martha Stewart Weddings and theKnot.com.

No 186: Becky

Thursday, July 23, 2009

This tag couldn't be more Becky, unless it actually read BCA. Or should it be ACB? Does the groom's first name precede the new shared last name? Oh monograms. Anyway, A and B C's wedding will no doubt use reds, deep purples and browns, and this tag would be the most lovely compliment to Becky's invitations. I also love that these favors are easy to put together in advance and won't be too expensive-you are, after all, feeding and watering these people for the evening. I think favors should be something sweet to leave the party with, but individual silver picture frames engraved with each guests' name seems like overkill to me. Photo c/o theKnot.com.

No 185: Audrey

For Audrey's aquarium wedding, we both agreed these little chocolates cleverly disguised as rocks and pebbles would be charming. But, like the photo suggests, you might have to encourage guests to try one-they do not look like edibles in the slightest! Photo c/o Martha Stewart Weddings.

No 184: Quill

I imagine Quill will have a perfect wedding, by which I mean, one very much like mine. But in all seriousness, this woman has impeccable taste. Getting her masters degree in decorative arts from Bard, the girl knows beautiful things. For her wedding, I imagine a celebration of her love of all things French. What could be more lovely than homemade lemon curd sandwiched between two madeleines? Photo c/o Martha Stewart Weddings.

No 183: Margie

For Marge's playful wedding, Fla-Vor-Ices, of course! Also known as Otter Pops in other parts of the world, and perfect in big galvanized steel tubs filled with ice (and beer). Although Marge had an entirely practical concern when I mentioned these to her-Do they stain? I'm guessing yes.But the favor I love for Marge is salt water taffy, a Jersey beach staple which happens to be one place she's happiest. While I'm not sure she'd go for the packaging in this image, c/o Martha Stewart Weddings, I can imagine big pails full of these delicious, chewy treats at Marge's relaxed reception.

No 182: Amanda

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

For Amanda's punk-rock princess wedding, I love these bags of M&M's in all shades of pink, red and white, but I'd substitute the couple's personalized tag with this adorable pirate sticker. Candies c/o theKnot.com, stickers available at Celebrate Express.

No 181: Melinda

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

For Melinda's elegant but warm wedding, these favors stood out right away. I especially loved the espresso ribbons on the honey jars; I can picture Melinda's big day in a wash of rich, full colors like chocolate and amber. Photos c/o theKnot.

No 180: Mega!

Monday, July 20, 2009

I've known Mega Moo since she was born, and if there's one thing I've come to expect from her, it's the best. She wore the world's most gorgeous, beaded prom gown to her senior prom (and took my little brother, who she was finally able to convince to put on a tuxedo!). So I wouldn't be surprised if she left guests with delectable chocolates in beautiful ivory boxes.

No 179: this Week's Theme Is

Favors! I was inspired by my friends' singular styles, and so I've put together a whole week of goodies, tailored to your weddings, heritages and savoir-faire. These gorgeous favor packagings were created by Martha Stewart Weddings; download the template to make these yourself!

No 178: Real Wedding: Amanda and Stephen

Sunday, July 19, 2009

I just adore this Nashville wedding photographed by Mindy and Phil Thornton of Phindy Studios. The groom, Stephen, is part of Nashville rock band The Nobility, and entertained during the reception, held at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel. The bridesmaids "dresses" are absolutely adorable: a useful pencil skirt? A sweet white blouse? And they look fantastic to boot. I love, love, love the photo at the bottom of newlywed Amanda; She's the most adoring groupie on the planet at that moment. But the photographs that made me gasp-the couple sitting at the piano. They found this vintage piano in the choir loft of the church where they were married, and the images are truly exquisite.
