Wind-swept

With John still in DFW this weekend, this girl was left to her own devices, and I filled the weekend with my very favorite things–lists, books, errands and all things wedding!

I headed home a little later than usual on Friday night and found myself ordering up my Friday night Indian food fix on the train! It had been a pretty grueling week, so I felt particularly grateful for delivery, pajamas and the bottle of rosé I had stored in the fridge. I spent the evening checking out all things pretty before dozing off during a screening of Sabrina.

I was up early the next morning and dashed off to my favorite grocery store while that morning's bread delivery was still steaming. After picking up the essentials–avocados, tea, strawberries–I headed back to home to whip up a simple, satisfying breakfast of avocado toast topped with a poached egg and roasted Russian Bananas. Then I settled in with my laptop to catch up on Downton Abbey and check to do's off my list in our sunny living room. I took a break that afternoon to stroll down to Trouble for the spiciest chai, a piece of aloo naan, and a big breath of fresh air before settling back into a flow of invitation addressing and playlist editing. I made a simple penne all'arribbiata for supper, then curled up with a book for the rest of the evening–all the while resisting the temptation to watch House of Cards without John!

I stuck to basics on Sunday morning and made my usual breakfast, then pulled an armchair into the sunniest spot in the living room to read. I have a stack of books with my name on them, and the quiet Sunday was perfect for diving in. I also got a chance to catch up with one of my best girlfriends and my mom, and work up a sweat with Mary Helen Bowers. John and I had one of those revelatory conversations about the future, and I meditated on our discussion while cooking a Spanish tortilla. It's best a little cool, so I let the flavors mingle while I read, then poured myself a glass of wine to watch Downton Abbey's season finale.

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? Binge watching House of Cards, perhaps, checking things off your to do list like me, or maybe or planning a big summer vacation? I want to hear all about it!
