Abigail & Pete

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

When Abigail and Pete decided to marry, they invited 20 of their nearest and dearest to join them in Nova Scotia–a new little corner of the Earth they'd never explored. With Shobac as their striking backdrop and simplicity always in mind, these two and designer/creative director/stylist A Happy Smith planned a wedding that's served as a major source of inspiration for me in the last few months.

Abigail wore a lace Dolce & Gabbana shift and nude Dior pumps. Crystal fan earrings and a fingertip tulle veil, along with a lush, colorful bouquet of peonies, roses, seeded eucalyptus and stock by florist Chelsea Lee, completed her modern bridal look. Pete chose a classic black J.Crew suit, accessorized with a diamond point bow tie and an elegant white rose boutonniere.

After exchanging their vows on the grounds of Shobac, Abigail and Pete joined their guests in the property's restored 19th century barn for an intimate reception. And at the end of the evening, fireworks lit up the night sky as sparklers crackled.

This celebration was brilliantly, beautifully captured by Micheal Beaulieu, who was kind enough to share these images with me. Tell me, do you have a favorite image or detail from this fantastic fête? It's hard to ignore the loveliness of those landscape shots, but I'm partial to the classic black & white portraits.

    1. And to marry a country setting with such minimalist details? This wedding totally had my number.

  3. Yes, that dress is just gorgeous. That's a little D&G number.
