Genevieve & Matt

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

When this stylish pair decided to tie the knot in their adopted hometown, London, their celebration was nothing less than chic. Inspired by Jay Gatsby's elegant soirees, Genevieve and Matt hosted a black tie ball I think I'll always adore.

They chose the centrally-located In & Out Club for their wedding; the historic club could host the ceremony, dinner and dancing all under one lovely roof. To enhance the beauty of the space and highlight architectural details, florist Moyses Stevens created grand arrangements of early spring blooms, while low clusters of purple tulips dominated the formal dining room.

The bride wore a draped silk chiffon gown by David Fielden with rosettes at the neck, the waist and down the back. Blush Dior pumps and a structured white blazer from The Kooples were perfect counterpoints to the romantic gown and Genevieve's 60's-inspired updo, finished with a delicate birdcage veil. The bride carried a bouquet of petal pink peonies and roses by florist Moyses Stevens, while her bridesmaids wore swinging, beaded dresses with a decidedly Gatsby feel and carried ivory rose posies. Matt's striking white rose boutonniere set him apart in a sea of classic black tie.

Genevieve and Matt exchanged vows before their guests, seated in a semi-circle, in the King Harald V Room. After the short ceremony, sparkling wine and Pimms cups were served as guests congratulated the newlyweds. After dinner, there was dancing to Benoit & His Orchestra, a 1920's French jazz band and slice of almond and lemon cake with marzipan from Katerina Janakova at Villandry. As the clock struck midnight, guests departed in classic black taxis, but the bride, groom and a few of their closest friends dashed over to the Green Room at the Gore Hotel for a nighcap.

Surely the lovely photographs by David Jenkins make it easy for Genevieve and Matt to remember their beautiful wedding day fondly. Tell me, what's your favorite detail or image from this London fête?
