Roses and Ranunculus

If I'm being totally honest, I can only enjoy having the house to myself for a day or two before I start to really miss John–and more than a week into his trip to Texas, you could say I'm having withdrawals! But missing my guy didn't keep me from enjoying a wonderfully productive weekend, and even a great big dose of fun.

It's been busy at work lately, so I treated myself to a little Friday afternoon shopping, and left Jeremy's with my wedding shoes! I've been stalking a particular pair of slides, and after learning there were pristine pairs at the discount shop, I scooped them up. Still buzzing from my purchase, I dashed over to Masala for a little chicken tikka masala, then came home to spend a quiet evening with the Gilmore Girls–and a phone date with my sweetheart.

After late nights this week, I allowed myself a great indulgence and didn't set a Saturday morning alarm. I was still in line at my favorite grocery store before 9, collecting breakfast provisions and stocking the fridge for the week. After some roasted fingerlings and a poached egg over avocado toast, I took my tea into the living room to hammer away at my to do list–bridal, blogging and otherwise! After a bit of ballet, I had a long chat with John before a rather spartan supper–leftover naan and hummus with a glass of rosé. Then I climbed into bed Sabrina, an Audrey Hepburn classic that John's never been able to watch all the way through.

Alarm-less again on Sunday morning, I started my day with breakfast tacos: scrambled eggs, spicy roasted sweet potatoes, guacamole and even a bit of my favorite salsa. With plans for the evening, I wanted to get my workout in first thing, so Mary Helen Bowers and I sweated it out and I felt terribly productive. Then I got down to the business of learning some new music, chatted with John and dashed out for goodies to bring to Sunday Supper with two of my dearest girlfriends. We made homemade butternut squash ravioli, cooked up a steak and some Brussels sprouts, and shared a bottle of pinot before digging into macarons and Gewurztraminer brandy–a truly divine way to end the weekend!

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? Preparing for a big winter storm, perhaps, or dreaming of a beachy getaway?
