Yellow Jacket

Friday, October 17, 2014

Named for the wasps that plague agave farms and tequila distilleries, this stiff drink packs a punch–one that's not altogether unwelcome by Friday afternoon.

Yellow Jacket

2 oz reposado tequila
1/2 oz St Germain elderflower liqueur
1/2 oz Yellow Chartreuse
1 dash Regan's Orange Bitters

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice; shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe glass, and garnish with a lemon peel.

Notes: Our house tequila is Corralejo's Reposado, and it would be an excellent addition to this cocktail, though the originators of this recipe call for Partida. The sweet qualities of the St Germain and yellow Chartreuse are balanced by the tequila's kick, but you could also try mezcal as the base spirit in this sipper. Cheers!
