What a weekend–there's nothing like a wonderful wedding to make Monday seem a little lovelier!

We took an early morning flight on Thursday and landed in Boston by mid-afternoon. After working up a sweat (and our appetites), we headed to a restaurant recommendation from the bride and groom, Citizen Public House, where we devoured BBQ duck legs and shared a few beers. Then we hopped in a cab and headed over to Kelly and Mike's to finally get a peek at their beautiful home and visit before the weekend really got underway.

Friday was devoted to exploring–first Brookline for a diner breakfast at the Busy Bee, then across the river to Cambridge for a long stroll amongst brick buildings and the turning leaves. Then we dashed back into Boston for the wedding rehearsal (John and I provided the ceremony music) and a fabulous Italian supper at La Morra. A few bourbons at Lolita after dinner had us feeling positively gleeful–but the 8am alarm on Saturday morning reminded us that we're not quite so young anymore!

I dashed off to a hair appointment while John got breakfast at Eastern Standard near our hotel; sadly, my updo needed a little attention, so after I had a late breakfast, I headed back for a few dozen more bobby pins. I met John at the hotel and we curled up in the rainy afternoon with a West Wing episode before donning our best clothes for the big day! The couple was married at the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum, and even the pouring rain couldn't have dampened our spirits. The ceremony was simple and heartfelt, the toasts had me tearing up and the caterer smoked up the basement kitchen so badly the fire department arrived to give us the all-clear. The newlyweds just laughed and posed with the truck before heading back in to dance the night away.

We passed on the after-party the night before, so the 8am alarm on Sunday morning wasn't nearly as painful. We packed up before meeting my mom, baby brother and his girlfriend for a Mexican breakfast at Masa in Boston's South End. John and I stopped by Kelly and Michael's to dole out final hugs and kisses to family and our new friends before heading to the airport for our afternoon flight. I had been crushed upon discovering that we'd have to spend five and a half hours without wifi, but it turned out to be such a blessing as I finished a book (the first purely pleasure read I've enjoyed in months), worked on projects without distractions and got to hang out with my guy. We landed a bit before 8pm, and beelined to Masala for Indian food–you didn't really think we could go a whole weekend without tikki masala, did you? After supper, we unpacked our bags and blissfully threw ourselves into bed, happy to be home after such a fabulous celebration.

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? Did you attend a friend's wedding, explore a new city or curl up on a rainy afternoon with an episode of Gilmore Girls, perhaps?
