You may have seen that we were pup-sitting this weekend, so all in all there were lots of walks, plenty of snuggles and even a Saturday afternoon nap!

Phineas came to work with me on Friday, and after work, John met us downtown to whisk us home. After a quick shower, we dashed off to dinner with one of our best pals. She regaled us with stories over dosas and cracked us up over curries; you know it's a good night when someone says, "Let's open another beer–I have to tell you this!" We headed home and grabbed Phineas for a quick stroll around the block before jumping into bed with Masters of Sex–we just started watching and we're hooked!

We woke up early on Saturday morning and after a quick walk, the three of us hopped into the car and headed to Andronico's for weekend supplies. We picked up avocados and fingerling potatoes for our usual breakfast, and while John brewed coffee, I quickly cleaned house. After breakfast, we curled up with another episode of Masters of Sex, then grabbed our to-do lists and got to work! While John practiced, I sorted through emails, created my editorial calendar and culled inspiration from my favorite blogs. After another stroll, the boys curled up for a little nap while I cozied up with some new reading material. John put in a bit more practice before we made rustic homemade gnocchis and a simple tomato sauce for supper, and after serenading Phineas and I with his rep, we headed to bed with Frasier.

Phineas' heavy snoring woke us up early on Sunday morning; John took him for a brisk walk and grabbed an Americano from Trouble while I lazed around in bed, enjoying the early morning sunshine. Breakfast tacos with spicy salsa and avocado were the perfect way to start the day, and we sipped coffee while crafting our daily to-do lists. With John at the guitar and me at the computer, we spent the late morning and better part of the afternoon working in companionable silence (you know, except for the music). There were breaks for tea, breaks for walks with Phineas and even a brief break for Frasier, but we both so enjoy our projects that it's hard to stay away from them! After handing our weekend ward over to his happy parents, we strolled down to our neighborhood deli where we picked up two sandwiches and a bag of chips. We brought our provisions, along with a bottle of rosé, plenty of blankets and pillows, and my laptop up to the roof where we had the most wonderful picnic as the sun dipped low in the sky and began to set. There were cups of tea to warm us up once we came back down, and we headed to bed early, ready to tackle a new week!

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? Cooking a fabulous meal, having a picnic or perhaps attending a wonderful wedding? I want to hear all about it!
