Jacqueline & Sean

After these two college sweethearts met at Virginia Tech, they couldn't bear to be away from each other for a whole summer–and not much has changed in the years since. After a romantic proposal at home, the soon-to-be-weds set to planning a nautical-inspired D.C. celebration in shades of navy and pink with the help of event designer Laura Ritchie of Events in the City.

Jackie chose an A-line gown with lace bodice from Mark Brower’s Vineyard Collection for Priscilla’s Of Boston and a bow-topped pair of Kate Spade sandals; a romantic floral lace appliqué veil, family heirloom pearl earrings, and a pink and white bouquet of peonies, garden roses and dahlias by Holly Heider Chapple completed her look. Her maids wore ruffled navy silk taffeta dresses from J.Crew and carried posies of pink hydrangeas, while Sean and his groomsmen wore gray suits from Indochino and navy bowties from The Tie Bar.

After a Catholic ceremony at the bride's parents' church, Holy Trinity in Georgetown, guests grabbed provisions for the tour of D.C. and trip to the reception venue, Sequoia, including splits of Champagne, water bottles and salty snacks. PaperZest provided programs and place cards, while classic Crane invitations and Merry Maps guided guests. Sequoia's modern space was filled with charming nautical details, from rope vases filled with white hydrangeas and lanterns on each table to escort cards hung between two lighthouses. After dinner and dancing, the newlyweds indulged in something sweet from Cakes by Chris Furin before Jackie donned a sparkling sequined number for their departure–and the start of one divine honeymoon!

Many thanks to Rebekah J. Murray Photography for sharing these gorgeous images with me–I'm just smitten with the classic celebration! Tell me, what details do you adore from this D.C. fête?
