Ojos Verdes

Friday, May 9, 2014

I adore avocado–John and I probably eat 6 or 7 in any given week. While we can get good ones for much of the year, these green beauties are really having their moment right now. I usually spread them on toast or eat them with tortilla chips, but why not try a little avocado in your cocktail this weekend?

Ojos Verdes

1 1/2 oz Aquavit
1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
2 spoonfuls ripe avocado
1/2 oz simple syrup
2 dashes celery bitters

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice; shake for 10-15 seconds and double strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime peel.

I've rarely lead you wrong, so trust me on this one and try adding a little veggie to Friday night drink. Cheers!

  3. I will be the first to say I love a good avocado but in my cocktail?! You are right though, when it comes to cocktails, you have never steered us wrong so I will have to take your word for it and mix one up this weekend! Lucky for me, I have plenty of avocados on hand! Have a super weekend!
