Blushing

After a busy week (I just started a new gig, and John's got a jury coming up), we hustled home to clean house before our weekend guest arrived. John headed to the airport while I took the train to Masala where our usual dinner companions joined John's old friend for a feast of curries. We all headed back to our house to sample some recently brewed beer and said goodnight long past our bedtime!

John went for a run while I happily napped on Saturday morning, and while our guest explored San Francisco, we curled up with breakfast in bed. After checking a few things off our to-do lists, we were joined by our pals, and spent the afternoon sipping tea and chatting. Finally hunger overtook us, and the four of us headed to a favorite Mexican restaurant where we met up with one more friend for totopos, taquitos and tacos washed down with mezcal cocktails. Best of all? There was a wedding reception being held in the garden just behind our table! John and I headed home for our mid-afternoon meal to get some work done. With him at the guitar and me at the computer, we managed to knock plenty of items off our to-do list before heading up to the roof to enjoy spare ribs expertly smoked by our downstairs neighbor, a professional chef. After dinner, we curled up with Bruce Willis in Red 2, but fell asleep long before the action really started.

We were up at a reasonable hour on Sunday and started our morning with avocado toast and poached eggs. Over coffee and tea, we plotted our day and while I dove into some new books on ballet, John worked on repertoire for his performance this Friday. We took a break to run some errands while the two full racks of ribs we had leftover from the night before warmed in the oven, and before we knew it, our guests had returned with all the ingredients for corn maque choux and collard greens. We cooked up our late afternoon meal and washed down it all down with some recently gifted peach wine and watermelon before John and I curled up on the couch to digest. After an evening run and a little ballet, we were both feeling much improved, and curled up with our latest reads for a restful Sunday night.

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? Enjoying the beautiful weather, or some BBQ perhaps? I want to hear all about it!
