Sondra & Nic

Two San Francisco college students fell in love in the City by the Bay, and even though jobs in Manhattan brought them both across the country, there was no question they'd tie the knot in the city that brought them together. After a romantic proposal in Central Park, where Sondra's grandfather asked her grandmother to marry him before he shipped out during World War II, the couple set out to plan a celebration that would honor the charm and style of San Francisco at the University Club

As an interior designer, bride Sondra looked to her favorite source of inspiration–National Geographic–when creating the event's look and feel. The University Club's dark wood floors and ornate wallpaper and fixtures were a perfect background for the couple's 1930s aesthetic, from the invitations the bride designed to the detailed tablescapes that included pewter vessels, candles, vintage books and even issues of National Geographic, along with arrangements of local flowers and fruit by florist Meredith Law.

Sondra wore a Lazaro gown with Victorian-inspired lace detailing; a simple Toni Federici veil, pearl drop earrings, a pair of demure Kate Spade d'Orsay peep toes and a bouquet of white lisianthus with succulents and eucalyptus designed by florist Meredith Law completed her vintage look. Bridesmaids wore gray chiffon dresses from Amsale set off by vibrant bouquets of hydrangea, ranunculus, anemone, lavender, dusty miller and eucalyptus. Their floor length gowns complimented the groom and his pals' gray suits; a burgundy Hugo Boss pocket square, tie and tan Cole Haan shoes had Nic looking particularly sharp on his wedding day.

After snapping photos around San Francisco with their photographer, the talented Christina McNeill, the pair was married in front of the club's elaborate fireplace in a moving ceremony. Guests enjoyed the club's classic 1930s bar and a few cocktails before a sumptuous supper of grilled Pacific salmon, filet mignon and roasted portobello mushrooms over risotto in the dining room, which showed off San Francisco's elegant skyline. Cake cutting (the couple served tres leches cake from Tartine Bakery) and dancing took place in the lounge, where the newlyweds and their guests danced the night away. The last song of the evening was Frank Sinatra's classic, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," a fitting tribute to the city that brought Sondra and Nic together.

Many, many thanks to Christina McNeill for sharing these stunning photos–I just can't get enough of classic San Francisco celebrations these days! Tell me, what's your favorite detail or image from Sondra and Nic's wedding day?
