Spiced Milk Punch

Friday, December 20, 2013

Eggnog, with its heavy cream and raw egg, doesn't do it for everyone–I usually limit myself to a sip or two–but this spiced milk punch is a different story altogether. I think it would be a perfect eggnog alternative for the holiday party we're throwing tomorrow night!

Spiced Milk Punch

1 1/2 oz spiced rum
3/4 oz simple syrup
1 dash vanilla extract (optional)
3 oz milk

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice; shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.

Notes: Spiced rum is the centerpiece of this festive cocktail; a bottle of the homemade stuff would be a terrific stocking stuffer and sure to be drunk before the new year, but you can also pick up a bottle at your local liquor store if you're pressed for time–cheers!

  3. I totally want to do this! Even without the spiked part. Warm flavored milk is so good. I don't know why I don't do it more often.

  4. Yum! We just made our first milk punch last night using a recipe featured on the Etsy blog this week - it was delicious. We used bourbon in ours, but I think we'll have to give it a try with spiced rum next time. Enjoy your holiday party!
