Derby Cocktail

Friday, October 18, 2013

John and I had a speedy supper at South at SFJazz's bar a few weeks ago, and what stood out amongst the divine deviled eggs, the rosemary pull-apart bread and the fried oysters was the Derby Cocktail–a perfect fall sipper with a bourbon base!

Derby Cocktail

1 1/2 oz Wild Turkey 101 bourbon
3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 oz honey
dash of cinnamon
Angostura bitters

Combine bourbon, lemon, honey and a dash of cinnamon and a few drops of bitters in a shaker with ice; shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.

Notes: Wild Turkey is one of the few GMO-free bourbons, so it's particularly popular as a well bourbon in San Francisco–and it's quite delicious. Cheers!

  3. I know this sounds naive, but I had no clue alcohol had GMO's. Wow!
