A Tom Ford wedding gown, a yacht club reception and a sparkler send off–this is the stuff that little girls' dreams are made of (or maybe just mine)!
Vogue's Senior Accessories Editor, Rickie, is also the daughter of Tom Ford International chairman, so there was no question about who'd design her gown. The strapless organza and lace dress was perfectly accessorized (naturally) with diamond drop earrings, a Cathedral veil, white satin peep toes and a gorgeous white bouquet by Sayles Livingston. The bride wanted blue for her six bridesmaids, but Mr. Ford suggested pink might be more appropriate for summer; they agreed on "blush" when Rickie wrinkled her nose at pink! Derek and his groomsmen looked handsome in black tie, and white rose boutonnieres distinguished them from the rest of the well-dressed guests.
Classic engraved invitations from Smythson invited more than 300 guests to St. George’s School Chapel in Middletown, Rhode Island and a reception to follow at New York Yacht Club.
The couple was married in a traditional Episcopal service, and
celebrated with family and friends beneath a billowing white tent on the
water. White tablecloths with a nautical rope pattern looked chic
paired with gold-banded china and white and blush arrangements by Sayles Livingston, and after a slice of cake from Confectionery Designs, guests were treated to a fireworks display over Narragansett Bay. The bride slipped into a lace Valentino dress for the sparkler send-off, and the newlyweds, who met on the Georgetown sailing team, headed to their after-party in a darling Hinckley picnic boat.
