Caryn and Robert

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

When Robert got down on one knee to propose to Caryn, he chose a bluff overlooking the Chesapeake in her hometown; when it came time to chose a location for their wedding celebration, there wasn't any other place the couple considered! The event was a labor of love, and the newlyweds had the help of their friends, families and neighbors; one of the bridesmaids worked with Caryn to design the nautical invitation suite and paper elements at the reception, neighbors opened their homes to out-of-town guests and in the end, their wedding was strengthen by the community that helped to celebrate with them.

The bride wore a Swiss dot Ivy & Aster gown, a delicate Twigs & Honey veil and metallic Kate Spade sandals. Caryn's aunt made her sparkling belt, and she finished the look with a dramatic pair of Bounkit earrings. Bridesmaids looked sweet in petal pink sundresses and carried posies of peonies and roses by florist Cache Fleur. Robert stood apart from his nautically dressed groomsmen (clad in Vineyard Vines) in a linen J.Crew, and they all donned J.Crew ties.

After exchanging their vows, the newlyweds and their guests headed to the Bay Ridge Marina Clubhouse for dinner and dancing–but not before a signature cocktail or two! The bride's mother made cucumber-infused vodka and lime simple syrup for cucumber-vodka mojitos, and ginger syrup for spicy bourbon sippers. The Main Ingredient catered dinner and constructed the four-tiered ombre cake, topped with peonies and roses; along with cake balls in the couple's signature cocktail flavors, there wasn't a single unsatisfied sweet tooth! After dinner and dessert, local favorite Doug Segree got everyone up on their feet and dancing–the perfect end to a beautiful day!
