Thank heavens for weekends because I have had a lot on my plate at work lately. Friday afternoon was a haze of bank statements and spreadsheets, but a kind coworker pulled me out of my Quickbooks coma and John met me at the office (I think it was to make sure I left!). Naturally, the only cure for a day like that is an Indian feast, so we bee-lined to Masala and then straight home for a night in with Netflix.

John left the house early for a Saturday morning run–and was surprised, as always, to find that his escape hadn't been so silent and I'd already brought the laptop into bed! We headed to Andronico's for breakfast necessities and party supplies, since we'd invited a friend or two over for Saturday night charcuterie (and cheese), then made herbed scrambled eggs with roasted baby potatoes and plenty of caffeine for us both. John headed off to work in the early afternoon and I filled my day with a smidge of housekeeping, a long phone call with my Mom, a whole lot of blogging and even some vocabulary review before the first guest arrived! There was Lillet, Breton cider, homebrewed Pilsner and even a bottle of red to drink and plenty of delicious things to eat, but my favorite part about the evening was introducing our friends. We said a late goodbye as the candles burned out and tumbled into bed happy and full.

We had reservations at Presidio Social Club on Sunday morning but John was jonesing for a run and I don't think either of us was anxious to sample a breakfast cocktail, so I happily stayed under the covers. We eventually headed down the street for brunch at a local favorite and despite the grand plans we'd made over coffee, all we really wanted to do by the time we got home was snuggle. After a few episodes of The West Wing, John was sleeping soundly enough that I could author this post (and get some work done). He had an afternoon staff meeting so I rousted him from his nap and took advantage of the solitude to do some math and yoga practice–both best done alone. John got home just as I was doing some final seated poses, and together we made a saffron risotto–the perfect supper on a foggy night.

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? Were you recovering from a busy work week like me, or maybe find a new favorite watering hole?
