When Jackie and Nick decided to tie the knot, there was little question about where; they'd spent lots of time on Martha's Vineyard, and they booked the very first venue they visited, The Captain Flanders House. The simple charm and rustic property were perfect for a wedding focused on family, music and the outdoors.
At the urging of their cheerful orange Hello Lucky! stationary suite, 100 guests joined the love birds on the Vineyard, where friends and family, along with Julie Hatt of Vineyard Weddings, pitched in to help create their wonderful wedding day. After a tender first look, Jackie and Nick were married on the lawn of the Flanders House; they incorporated The Irish Wedding Blessing and used Nick's parents' wedding crowns during their ceremony in a nod to their respective heritages.
Jackie wore a ruched Paloma Blanca gown paired with a pearl bracelet, matching earrings and a simple veil, and she carried a small posy of orange freesia from Flowers on the Vineyard. Her maid of honor chose a grey gown and flower girls wore ruffled dresses from J.Crew, while Nick wore a grey three-piece suit from Hugo Boss, and his bow tie matched the groomsmen's Tie Bar ties.
After cocktail hour on the lawn accompanied by Ballywhoo, a local Bluegrass band, the newlyweds and their guests dined and danced beneath a classic white tent. Supper was served by Tea Lane Caterers, while Val Cakes and Green Mountain Chocolate provided the perfect celebratory sweets. DJ Smac had everyone dancing, but he couldn't be topped by the groom's performance–Nick played a song he wrote especially for the occasion. The evening ended just as they'd hoped–surrounded by friends and family dancing like maniacs–and was beautifully captured by their talented photographer, Jocelyn Filley.
Many thanks to Jocelyn Filley for letting me share her gorgeous photos–tell me, what's your favorite image from this lovely day? And how do you feel about orange outside of traditional fall weddings? I just adore it!
i love the invitation details! the yellow is so pretty :) xo
ReplyDeleteIt's so clever that the bride and groom styled their wedding based on their invitation suite. It's so easy to get lost in a sea of pretty and not know where to start. Finding something that will narrow your focus is a great way to create a unified look. Bravo!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the hints of orange. Very unexpected, very different.
