Americana

Get ready for some classic Americana this week–after all, that's what I love best!

On Friday afternoon, we threw a little fête at the office to celebrate June's accomplishments, and it was such a fun party that when I left at 7, it seemed certain the revelry would continue long after! I beat John home by just a few minutes and after getting into weekend mode, Indian food was on our doorstep. John was sound asleep before Anna Karenina even met Count Vronsky and I was happy to make it an early evening.

John gifted me a beautiful milk glass punch bowl a few years ago, but we'd never so much as filled it with ice. On Thursday though, we put the wheels into motion to throw a punch party, so I spent the better part of Saturday preparing deviled eggs, juicing citrus, arranging flowers and polishing the silver while John was working at St George's tasting room. We kicked off the celebration with the pop of a Champagne cork, and the full bowl of punch was empty before 10:30. Luckily we'd filled the fridge with plenty of other things to drink, and the carousing continued late into the evening!

We did major post-party clean up the night before, so the scene of Sunday morning was significantly less scary than it could have been. After herbed scrambled eggs and toast, I wished John a happy shift and settled in with my laptop to make the most of a quiet Sunday. I caught up with my Mama, my best friend and my favorite blogs before John got home, and after a quickie clean up, we met our usual Friday night date and his girlfriend for–you guessed it–Indian food! We ate, we even drank a little (no small wonder after the liver damage done the night before) and I laughed so hard I cried, then we said goodnight and curled into bed. With a big week at work and an anniversary on Monday, we needed to rest up to be at our best!

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend, or looking forward to this week? Any big plans for the Fourth of July, or vacations on the horizon? I want to hear all about it!
