Happy June, all! How did you spend your weekend?

John met me early at the office on Friday afternoon and we worked side by side until it was time to pack up. We made it across town without running into any cyclists, and since we were on our own for dinner that night, headed to our Friday night spot at a decidedly early hour. We finished up dinner and headed home, where we curled up on our recently installed and much liked couch with a fascinating documentary before crawling into bed.

Early on Saturday morning, John headed out for a run–not 5 minutes after he'd carefully closed the door, a vacuum cleaner started and I was wide awake. I spent the morning reading my favorite blogs and cooking a simple breakfast of poached eggs on avocado toast that was ready the moment my athlete arrived home. We made a to-do list that included picking up a new (to us) coffee table for the living room, and jumped into the car to get started; after picking up our new addition in Corte Madera, we grabbed some last minute beach necessities for our vacation. I could have spent the whole day enjoying the gorgeous day across the bridge, but the rest of our list called. We met our Friday night date for Saturday tapas and our 7pm dinner reservation turned into late night cocktails at a hidden watering hole

I woke up to domesticated sounds of cleaning, but convinced John that despite our early rising, we could always stay snuggled up in bed. It worked for a while, and John was able to lure me out from under the duvet with toast, scrambled eggs and strawberries. After breakfast, I limbered up with some yoga practice before we headed downtown to catch the dress rehearsal of The Tales of Hoffmann at the San Francisco Opera. When the fabulous production ended late in the afternoon, John and I were starving, so we beelined to Andronico's for supplies and then straight home for supper. A spicy penne all'arrabbiata was the perfect dish for an evening that was cooling quickly, and we kicked back before our busy week started!

  6. Sounds like a lovely weekend!! I had a great weekend!! I got my brakes flushed Saturday and while they were working on my car I walked around the neighborhood and found a local market where I scored some sweet handmade earrings and an empanada from a food truck! I also bought plants for my patio, got a library card, and made a big brunch Sunday. :)
