This strawberry cocktail looked too gorgeous to pass up–while it might be less than ideal for a large cocktail hour (just imagine how hard your bartenders would have to work!), it sounds heavenly for a Friday night!
The Blushing Ingénue
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce blended fresh strawberries
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce agave nectar
1 egg white
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Combine vodka, blended strawberries, lime juice, and agave in a shaker; dry shake for 10 seconds, then double strain using both a Hawthorne and tea strainer. Add egg, dry shake for an additional 10 seconds. Add ice and shake once more for 5-10 seconds, then pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Top with bitters.
Notes: John recommends the technique above to make sure that the strawberry and egg don't end up an unappetizing mess, but if you're using a blender or a store-bought strawberry purée, you can probably skip the first dry shake and double strain.
To make those pretty patterns, pull a toothpick through the Angostura bitters–John's signature is a petite heart that always makes me smile. Cheers!
That is so very beautiful.
