Sue and Gregg

This wedding is so easy for me to love–I absolutely adore cherry blossoms (even if I did miss the blooms every spring I lived in Maryland, and by a month with this post!), and so does this gorgeous bride. She and her groom wanted to showcase the beauty of their hometown with the cherry blossoms serving as primary inspiration for everything from the color palette–pink and gray–to Sue's gorgeous appliqué veil.

Guests knew from the stunning Ceci New York invitation suite, featuring a hand-drawn map and blossoms galore, that they were in for one beautiful celebration. Sue wore an Amsale gown and veil with glittering d'Orsay Jimmy Choo sandals and a classic strand of pearls, and her maids wore silk shantung Amsale dresses in pale pink that matched the peony and ranunculus bouquets designed by Sidra Forman perfectly. She and Gregg, looking handsome in black tie, married beneath a cherry blossom arbor on the lawn of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel that was followed by an alfresco cocktail hour. They served his and hers signature cocktails–"The Senator", for the groom's nickname, a vodka Tom Collins with raspberry purée, and "The Senator's Wife" (of course), Champagne topped with St. Germain and lemon–while the newlyweds took photos at DC landmarks like the Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument.

Entertaining is important to the couple, so they worked tirelessly with the chef at the Mandarin Oriental to prepare a meal that met with their high standards. Ritzy Bee Events worked with florist Sidra Forman to bring DC spring into the elegant ballroom, from lush arrangements of ranunculus, tulips and peonies to petal pink linens and votives. After cutting a rug on the dance floor and cutting into their stunning Maggie Austin Cake, the newlyweds couldn't have asked for a lovelier day.

An enormous thank you to the talented Caroline Tran whose photos are always so beautiful–tell me, what's your favorite image? The portraits by DC landmarks, those gorgeous floral arrangements or the stunning sweep of Sue's veil?
