Stormy Morning

Friday, April 12, 2013

Normally I'd be opposed to any cocktail that combined Champagne and ice–but for this libation, I'm happy to make an exception!

Stormy Morning

1/2 oz crème de violette
1 1/2 oz St Germain elderflower liquor
1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
4 oz Champagne

Combine crème de violette, St Germain and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice; shake for 10-15 seconds. Pour into an ice-filled Collins glass, then top with Champagne or sparkling wine.

Notes: I've recommended Rothman & Winter's crème de violette before and I'll do it again–it's far and away the tastiest. As for bubbles, use whatever you have on hand, and make mimosas tomorrow morning with whatever's left over–cheers!

  1. I started my day with a 'stormy morning' (ice stormy that is, woke up to a thick layer of deep freeze and ice covering everything outside!) so I think it is only appropriate that I finish my day with one! Love the ombre hue it takes on and luckily I have creme de violette on hand, all thanks to you and your 'Aviation' suggestion awhile back! Hope you had a sunnier start to your day doll!
