A vintage ring might be the perfect thing to bring a smile to your face on Monday morning–it's doing the trick for me, along with thinking about this past weekend!

On Friday night John and I meet up with one of our dearest friends for a belated birthday dinner–he might be one of the only people who's ever been invited to our weekly Indian feast, and by know the staff knows him almost as well as they know us! We polished off Maharajas, a large format Saison John brewed and an Anthem hopped cider, and after saying our goodnights we headed home for a few episodes of Frasier, watched half-asleep.

John managed (with all the windows open and heaven knows how much beer in his belly) to sleep in a bit on Saturday morning, and we lolled around in bed before making a magnificent breakfast–corn tortillas with scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, guacamole and roasted tomato salsa, along with a green salad with radishes and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice (John styled a photo). Despite the later hour of our morning meal, we got in plenty of hours of practice and blogging Saturday afternoon, with frequent snuggle breaks, of course. When we'd finally worked up a bit of an appetite, we walked a few blocks to our neighborhood co-op to pick up a bottle of rosé and pine nuts–you simply can't have pesto without both! Later we shared a dish of coconut milk ice cream topped with dark chocolate shavings before John brought the guitar into bed and I settled in with my editing pen. I finally convinced him to put away the scores and we were asleep the moment the lights turned off.

John was up early for a Sunday morning run but I stayed under the covers under he delivered breakfast in bed–a Gruyère omelet with fresh chives, roasted potatoes and mixed greens with a lemon-mustard vinaigrette. He picked up the guitar while I picked up around the house, and then we took two weeks worth of sheets, towels and everything else to the cleaners to be laundered. With the dishes done and the floors swept, I got to work at the computer while John serenaded me with his upcoming recital repertoire before we headed back out to pick up the wash and ingredients for dinner. After a little more work, namely drooling over the Spring 2014 gowns, and some planning for John's upcoming birthday, I rolled out my yoga mat for a nice long practice while he worked on an arranging project. I played sous chef while John made feta-lamb burgers with tzatziki and a big green salad, along with a slice of watermelon and a tall glass of lemonade–it was the perfect Sunday supper to celebrate a gorgeous, productive weekend.

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? Planning a summer vacation, doing a little spring cleaning or maybe diving into a great new book? I'm looking for recommendations!

  11. FETA LAMB BURGERS?? *dead* Ugh, I'm so hungry and it's only 9 o'clock in the morning and I've eaten all of my breakfast. Guess I should fill up on coffee before I go mad/fall asleep.

My weekend was nice. I spent most of it in bed. After hanging out with people all week I needed some alone time, and I got to do some shopping, too. Pretty great.
