Well hello to you too, Monday!

I met John in Hayes Valley Friday evening for a spring sake tasting before a guitar concert featuring female composers; it was a wonderful performance, but my stomach was growling so loudly by the end of it I was sure I was disrupting the other concertgoers!  We headed back to our 'hood to meet a favorite friend for dinner and ended up closing down our favorite Friday night spot over mysore masala dosas and Maharajas!

We were up early Saturday morning to sell off our enormous desk and celebrated the sale with eggs benedict at a local café. We headed home determined to do a major spring cleaning–but instead, we both took a much needed nap. After passing out, we devoted the afternoon to scrubbing, scouring and finally dreaming up just how we'd lay out our living room now that we've cleared so much space! We had an early supper of pesto and fresh tomatoes with a bottle of rosé and were sound asleep before 10!

John bounded out of bed on Sunday morning to go for a run while I pulled out my yoga mat for some sun salutations. We were hosting a brunch so after getting cleaned up, we spent the morning preparing–John made his fabulous Spanish tortilla, there was fresh squeezed juice, perfectly ripened avocados and cocktails (Micheladas and Corpse Reviver No. 2s), and we knew it had been a success when the clock suddenly read 5pm! After saying goodbye to our friends, we curled up with an episode or two of Frasier before bee-lining to our favorite grocery store; brunch had nearly cleaned out our fridge! We ended up making homemade veggie pizzas that night and were happy to crawl into bed early after a wonderful weekend.

Tell me, what were you up to? Did you host an impromptu party, start on a new project or get a jump on your spring cleaning?

  4. Um... I am going to need to hear more about Friday night! Sunday sounds like a dream. I can't wait until we know some people up here to invite over. I am thinking it is going to take a while. If you ever tire of blogging about weddings, I think you could start a food blog. I love your descriptions. xo
