After a terrifically productive week, I was ready to enjoy Friday evening with my favorite guy–we made a stop at Andronico's for supplies (Dolcetto d'Alba, burrata and fresh bread) on the way home and recreated my favorite snack from Zero Zero, their tomato-braised chickpea bruschetta. After a delicious dinner and a little wine, we curled up for the finale of 30 Rock and a few new finds, including The Americans and Netflix's new House of Cards before an early bedtime.
We were up early Saturday and picked up avocados and freshly made corn tortillas for a Mexican-inspired breakfast complete with guacamole and three kinds of salsa. After our leisurely breakfast, we switched between work and play, logging an hour at the computer and then an hour snuggled up. Before we knew it, it was time to head out–John spent the evening performing at a friend's variety show and I meet up with one of my favorite girls for a red wine flight and potato croquettes at Jamber. John and I ended up sharing a little midnight snack (and watching a few more episodes of House of Cards–someone please tell me we're not alone!) before finally calling it a night.
Of course, that didn't stop us from being up early the next morning–and just in time, because we grabbed that last table at our local diner for breakfast. Since we don't own a television and felt our loyalties divided about the Superbowl (John and I met in Baltimore, after all) we devoted the afternoon to recording and reading instead; I must have spent hours pouring over A Country Farmhouse while I held my breath every time John pressed record! After a little yoga and a few high notes myself, we put the house in order and eagerly awaited the Indian food delivered to our door. Really, what more could I have asked for?
Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? Were you watching the big game, or did you find something else to occupy your evening?
