Raspberries & Cream

Friday, February 15, 2013

Looks heavenly, doesn't it? If you didn't get quite enough pink, red and romance yesterday (and really, can you ever have enough of those things?), I think it's perfectly acceptable to make Valentine's last a few more days!

Raspberries & Cream

1 1/2 oz vanilla vodka
3/4 oz Tuaca
3/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
heavy cream

Combine vodka, Tuaca, lime juice, syrup, bitters and raspberries in a mixing glass and muddle until the raspberries are pulverized. Add ice, shake, then double strain into an ice-filled Collins glass. Top with a gentle pour of heavy cream; stir before sipping.

Notes: Tuaca, a citrus-vanilla liqueur, isn't something you'll usually find in my home bar, but a 50 ML bottle (those little airline staples) is just enough to mix up two of these cocktails without having to make space in your liquor cabinet. If you're a planner (and can wait until next week), put two split vanilla beans in two cups of vodka (I like Tito's) for homemade vanilla vodka. Cheers!

  7. I never seem to make cocktails with cream in them, but this looks like the perfect excuse to indulge a bit.

  8. Yummy! I can't wait to put together my bar cart in my new apartment. Going to just do a little one on a tray on the kitchen bar area, but it's going to be super cute.
