Happy Valentine's week, all–I'm so excited for what's coming up on the blog, but before we get to all that, a little weekend wrap up!

While we usually dedicate Friday nights to take out and decompression, one of John's professors was playing with his jazz band and we couldn't resist the opportunity to hear him perform! We grabbed Indian food first (naturally), then met up with one of my best girlfriends and her guy at The Emerald Tablet. After the show we explored North Beach a bit, then grabbed cocktails and late-night snacks.

We were up early the next morning and took advantage of the well-stocked fridge to whip up a Spanish tortilla. We spent nearly the entire day curled up next to each other, save for a trip down to the local co-op for provisions; we'd both had long weeks and not nearly enough time together, so it felt wonderfully indulgent. We had a late afternoon supper, and just as it was getting dark we strolled down to the neighborhood gelato shop for an affogato. We walked back hand-in-hand through Golden Gate Park, and enjoyed an early bedtime.

John was up before me on Sunday morning and couldn't resist a second Spanish tortilla for breakfast. Delivered in bed, it was impossible to turn down! After such an indulgent Saturday, we spent most of Sunday catching up–on practice, French homework, beautiful blogs and even a little pinning! There was a mid-afternoon pause for a trip to the grocery store and a luxurious afternoon snack, then John catnapped while I sorted through images and prepped for a week of Valentine's-inspired loveliness. Finally it was time for some yoga, and while I stretched, John cooked up a pot of chana masala for dinner. After fresh strawberries with honeyed cream, we crawled into bed with our matching Macbooks, determined to be ready for Monday morning!

Tell me, how was your weekend? Discover a new recipe, dream of a tropical vacation or stay warm with a cup of cocoa?

  1. I'm so excited for your Valentine's Day posts! I spent the weekend with one of my best friends from high school who came to visit me. We went to a bunch of my favorite places in Austin, and my stomach still hurts from all the laughing we did! :)

  6. How come I'm just realizing that you live in SF! Okay, maybe I did know that, but I totally forgot. I blame having 3 kids in 2 years =) My excitement comes from having grown up in the bay area. (Benicia to be exact). Anyways, glad you had an indulgent weekend! And thanks so much for your kind words in regards to the new look we have going on over on the Perfect Palette! It's totally a work in progress - but I've been having fun making small changes here and there!

  10. I love reading your weekend updates because I can picture myself right where you are and it at once takes me far away and brings me back home. One of these days I want to be right where you are, enjoying those delicious meals. You wouldn't mind if I stayed a couple of weeks, would you? ;)
