Glossy

An impossibly perky color and a gorgeous bow make these glossy peep toes from BHLDN perfectly irresistible!

Tell me, what are you crazy for these days? I'm crushing on a cherry red handbag and a silver-plated monogrammed breakfast tray–to say nothing of the handsome man I spent my weekend with!

We kept Thursday's celebrations low-key and full of our favorite things–Indian food, a bottle of bubbly, sweet love notes and an early bedtime. I tidied up my desk on Friday afternoon before John and I headed home to kick back a little; after a simple supper, we made our way downtown for a friend's birthday celebration at Dueling Pianos at John Foley's. We bowed out a little before midnight and curled up with an episode of Law & Order: SVU before turning in to bed.

John woke me up Saturday morning with a Spanish tortilla and slices of a perfectly ripe avocado, and we spent the morning (and the afternoon!) recovering from the past week! We indulged in a nap before we cleaned house and took a walk in the park, taking full advantage of the warm, sunny weather. Then I put on a pair of high heels and we headed to Noe Street for dinner at L'Ardoise for a meal I'm still dreaming about! We shared the rack of lamb and coq au vin with a bottle of Côtes du Rhône, and after a few glasses of wine and just over a semester of French, John accidentally ordered two desserts! Luckily, the île flottant and Valrhona chocolate fondant were delicious, and we happily tumbled home and into bed.

Early the next morning we shared freshly baked croissants and a bowl of berries before getting down to business–if you can really consider looking at gorgeous weddings "work"! I also threw some spreadsheets in the mix while John practiced, and we squeezed in some errands that afternoon. We had an early supper, then curled up with our latest reads and our computers. Finally we called it quits and turned out the 1951 The Tales of Hoffmann by Powell and Pressburger; John was asleep before the 3rd act!

We spent Monday morning mixing up guacamole and scrambling eggs for breakfast tacos. After a leisurely morning meal, John ran some errands while I caught up on email, Downton Abbey and my yoga practice. John had managed to snag us an invitation to a cocktail and menu tasting at the new restaurant space at SFJAZZ, and we spent the early part of the evening talking bourbon and beef jerky, then headed home to jump into our pajamas and spend the rest of the night snuggled up with episodes of Fraiser.

So tell me, what have you been up to? I want to hear your Valentine's Day celebrations, your weekends–all of it!

  1. Oh how I love those peeptoes :) They are even cuter in person!
I'm so glad you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend! I flew to Atlanta on Wednesday night to visit one of my best friends, who I hadn't seen in four years! After a probably-hilarious shrieking reunion in the airport, we spent the long weekend talking, eating huge amounts of tapas, drinking great wine, and exploring her favorite places in the city. It was so much fun!

  7. There's nothing ever wrong with ordering two desserts! It sounds like such a lovely long weekend full of delicious food (as per usual), walks in the park (ah, so jealous), and quality time spent together. And I love that you and John watch Frasier. :)
