Berry

One of my very dear friends is planning her summer wedding, and to say I can't wait for it is an understatement! She's always adored purple, so when I spotted this gorgeous bouquet, I instantly thought of her Virginia celebration. Inspired by her rustic, romantic fête, I've put together a whole week of plums and purples that I'm simply crazy about!

After a perfect Thursday night date, including Indian food and beer brewing (we're making the White House Honey Porter), I had Friday evening to myself, giving me the perfect opportunity to finish October's financial statements at the office, devour the loveliness from some of my favorite blogs this week and whip up a batch of rice pudding–talk about a productive evening!

While John hit the books and a rehearsal on Saturday, I checked a whole pile of things off my to-do list, including a car checkup and a trip to Michael's for craft supplies! I spent the afternoon checking gifts off my Christmas list, crafting felt Christmas ornaments and watching Bridalplasty–the ultimate reality schadenfreude experience. Finally it was time to get ready for our Saturday night date-date (as opposed to take-out and a movie); it was so exciting to get all gussied up and meet that handsome man of mine! We had dinner on the intimate patio at Le Zinc in Noe Valley, and after oysters and bubbly, venison, roast duck, a cheese plate and a bottle of Bordeaux, we split a tarte tatin and an Americano–it was heavenly!

We were up early the next morning and grabbed a little breakfast at Andronico's before John headed to the GFA Symposium for some workshops and a performance with his quartet! I ordered my Thanksgiving turkey, booked holiday flights (SFO-EWR-DFW-SFO, here I come!) and started making New Years plans before I got down to blogging–can you tell I'm excited for the holidays? I grabbed John after his performance and sent him off to brew (more) beer with his buds while I sweated out Saturday's decadent meal with a little yoga, then whipped up a simple pomodoro for dinner. With a glass of red wine, it was the perfect Sunday night.

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? A belated Halloween celebration, an afternoon of apple picking, or maybe a fall feast?

  2. Gorgeous bouquet! Pulling inspiration for friends is one of my favorite parts of wedding blogging :) So glad you had a great weekend! Mine consisted of writing papers, watching Sex and the City reruns with my roommates, and checking out a handmade market in Austin called Feliz Sale. Pretty good balance, I would say! :)

  6. I want your weekend. I'm very excited to hear about this beer. Mine was super lazy with tons of naps trying to get ahead of a cold that I'm determined not to let take me down! I did manage make a lentil soup and pumpkin cheesecake last night - leftovers for lunch, yay! I did a few crafts as well, Michael's is such fun this time of year! :)
