Blooming

With John attending a wedding in Texas (Congratulations, Molly and Shawn!), I had another weekend all to myself. I couldn't have been more relieved when Friday finally drew to a close (it was one of those days that required a locksmith and a shampoo of the car carpets), but to tell the truth, this was a less indulgent solo weekend, filled with Quickbooks registers and plenty of Tylenol for the ensuing headaches. Of course, there were some highlights–hours on the phone with my best friend from high school, empanadas and a cup of tea at Hollow, a stunningly foggy Saturday night, gripping episodes of Downton Abbey (why didn't I get on board earlier?), and yoga practice that kept me from feeling like a mad man. By Sunday evening I was even feeling peaceful, save how anxious I am to have my sweetheart home!

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend? And what do you do when your other half is away–indulge in guilty pleasures, catch up with friends, or something altogether different?

  1. Oh no! I hate headaches. I hope you're feeling better today. I spent the weekend getting ready for my trip today, it feels like last week hasn't ended. sigh.

  2. I kind of like quiet weekends, holed up in my house, every now and then, except when they involve headaches and math!

I'm glad your weekend turned around and you got to relax.

My weekend was quiet. It was the first weekend bryan hasn't had to work in over a month.

  3. Is it bad if I want to wallpaper my apartment with Rifle Paper Co? Honestly, if I could just look at it all the time, that'd be good! :P I spent the weekend studying, cleaning, and grocery shopping with my roommate--we picked up some watermelon for watermelon-basil mojitos! They are going to be our end-of-summer-classes celebratory drink, and Friday can't come soon enough :)

  5. Don't you just love Rifle? I mean really! I had a headache this weekend that had to be put on the back burner. I had stuff to get done...like move!David travels the world a lot for work 55-65% of the year so I'm used to doing my thing..and there are weekends I never leave my house and there are weekends when I'm out and about discovering things. It's a nice break but when he's home, I am at my most content. XO :-)

  7. I hate when Ethan is away. I mean, he's never been away besides work...but that always stresses me out. This week he will have completely a fourth of this enlistment (one year) !! I can't wait for him to be a civilian again.

  8. When Bob's away, it's an excuse for me to be lazy. I like to catch up on my romantic-comedy watching, hahah. I watched Garden State last night (for the 9th time) and it was just as amazing as my first time watching it.

  14. I love those weekends alone when you can catch up on work and just lounge around. Conversations with friends always help me feel better as well. Sounds like a busy, but good weekend.

  18. This invitation suite is just gorgeous!

I love some indulgent "me" time when my hubby's away. Watch all those movies only I would love, read my favourite blogs, read some poetry, indulge in fashion mags... I'd also ensure a little girly time with my favourite ladies & some champers or cocktails.
