Fourth of July may mean fireworks, popsicles and patriotic desserts, but for me, it also means picnics on lush lawns and the ocean breeze kicking up your blanket. What better way to pay tribute to our Independence Day than with a celebration as all-American as it is lovely?
Patty and Joe lived less than a block apart for years, but lighting struck online when these two finally connected. They decided to tie the knot in Montauk, where they'd spent recent summers, and planned a celebration that was casual and elegant with the help of Anderson Green Events, who the bride says got a longer list of don'ts than do's for their summer fête! Invitations from Lion in the Sun set the tone for the celebration, held at East by Northeast, overlooking Montauk's Fort Pond.
Patty wore a tea-length lace dress by Christina Kara of East Village's Blue with a cluster of vintage brooches and beautifully embellished Rene Caovilla sling backs, while Joe wore khakis and a navy blazer in classic New England style. The bride's full bouquet of white peonies complimented the crisp, colorful table arrangements by Karen Lenahan Design, and the darling baumbirdy signs and programs. And of course, thanks to the work of the incomparable Karen Wise and her assistant, Joan Cuenco, we can enjoy the most beautiful window onto this joyful day. Karen was generous enough to share these gorgeous images with me, and I hope you're feeling as inspired as I am!
