I'll be honest–weddings that are self-consciously modern usually aren't my cup of tea, and luckily there are more than enough celebrations to go around. But when a couple manages to combine their contemporary aesthetic with a classic building so beautifully, the results are just impossible to resist!
Melany and Eddy, both Chicagoans, wanted to celebrate their marriage and the beauty of their native city; the pair immediately fell in love with The Rookery, a downtown landmark, and built a wedding that combined their location's elegance with their streamlined vision. The bride and her maids dressed at the JW Marriott, where she and Eddy would also meet for their first look, and the pair lead The Rasers across Chicago for photos at Union Station, Kinzie Street Bridge and finally to the Rookery. Melany wore a classic Amsale gown with a bronze sash, paired with Jimmy Choo sandals and a simple David Yurman bangle. Melany's bridesmaids wore metallic wheat dresses from Ann Taylor, while Eddy and his guys wore Formally Modern Tuxedos with black ties.
After a simple but heartfelt ceremony, guests explored The Rookery and munched on pass hors d'oeuvres from Jewell Events Catering. Melany's bouquet of roses and orchids echoed the lush but understated arrangements on each table, designed by Vale of Enna Flowers, and after a Bittersweet confection, Music Masters Entertainment got everyone on the dance floor. A huge thank you to Darren and Lisa for letting me feature your gorgeous images–your beautiful work has certainly inspired me!
What's your favorite wedding style? Do you love chic, urban celebrations, rustic, romantic parties or over-the-top fêtes?
Gorgeous!! I LOVE her dress and those gold chiavaris :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite wedding style is Southern elegance--where antebellum mansions, bowties, and classic comfort foods come together flawlessly!
This one would be my favorite. Everytime!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to write a lot but I still have to overcome to tasteful details, the romantic atmosphere created and the lovely photos.
Inspiring! Classy!....
Thank you for sharing.
I'm very into rustic weddings right now, especially intimate, rustic weddings.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, gorgeous!! That building is to die for. I am a fan of so many different styles... anything that is pulled together well can tug at my heart strings. I do think I tend to gravitate toward the rustic and romantic, though. :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a GLAMOROUS wedding! The venue is unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteI think I just realized why I have a (very very slight) aversion to First Look photos - the rings aren't on yet!!
ReplyDeleteIt would be a dream to get married in Chicago - you can get married at the Field Museum AND the Art Institute! I went to one at the top of the Aon Building. Holy cow.
I love any wedding as long as it fits the couple!
They had a blast and it shows. I love classic weddings with just all the right touches. Their wedding cake is perfect. I am really starting to like the way gold, used in the right way, makes thinks look oh so elegant. Love this wedding! XO

i love the staircase shot! this wedding is so urban glam, i love it.
ReplyDeleteI love this wedding. Not only because it's a classic Chicago affair but because it's such a great combination of modern, glam, and traditional. And I have to admit, I know Lisa Raser--we went to college together and she will forever remain one of the sweetest people I know. It's such a thrill to see her and her husband's work!
ReplyDeletelove her dress!
