Sunny

I don't know about the rest of you, but after a fairly wild Friday the 13th, I was so glad when the day wound down and it was time to pack up. I collected my computer and John, and we drove straight home with a car loaded up with guitars of every size and shape–John's Master's recital is just a few weeks away, and he spends more time with his instruments these days than he does with me! We wordlessly agreed that after such a hectic week, the only cure was Indian food, delivered straight to our door, and paired with the most recent Mad Men episodes for the most effective treatment.

I had a brunch date with some girlfriends on Saturday morning, so while we sipped mimosas in the sunshine (and all ordered the same French omelet) at Noe Valley's Le Zinc, John was left to his own devices. I came home a few hours later to find him in exactly the position I'd left him in–curled over a guitar in our "salon"; it seems unfair to call it a living room, since there's no couch and the space is dominated by a piano, a wall of shelves stuffed with musical reference books and John's enormous desk. I spent the afternoon engaged in wedding overload as I paged through the latest issues of Brides, Exquisite Weddings, Reverie and lots of other gorgeous goodies from around the web with all the windows thrown open, while John stayed close to his instruments and end-of-year projects. After an early supper of pesto and glasses of chilled rosé, we watched as the sunshine turned from warm orange to cool blue across the Pacific Ocean, which all too often we forget it just outside our doors.

John woke me up early on Sunday with a gorgeous breakfast spread, delivered in bed. After some time with the blog, I cozied up to the piano to learn some early Berlioz songs for John's recital, and to my French-English dictionary for translations. We took a long hike through Golden Gate Park to our favorite grocery store, and picked up everything we needed for a casual Greek Easter celebration. After I practiced yoga and John practiced the Tailleferre concerto for two guitars, we made well-seasoned lamb burgers with homemade tzatziki sauce, a big green salad and a poured two glasses of jammy red wine. It wasn't my Mama's heavenly leg of lamb, but it was a perfect Sunday supper.

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend?

  7. Your weekend dinners always sound so amazing. Lamb burgers? Awesome. I had the most delicious lamb burger at a restaurant recently and the Morroccan spices that flavored it were the perfect complements. That and a glass of red...yum.

  17. Sounds like a lovely weekend. :) Saturday I presented my research at a conference and that went pretty well! And then Saturday night I went to a drag pageant my school puts on. It's a pretty big deal, and it was amazing this year. Sunday I spent all day despondent in bed because it was rainy. haha

  19. I thrifted this weekend and got a cute blouse and some duvet covers from a friend's garage sale.

Why does Mad Men have to be on Sundays? I wish the week away ready for another episode only to be greeted shortly after by Monday.

  20. These are the prettiest flowers! My weekend was wonderful...John spoiled me rotten for my birthday :) We had a gorgeous brunch with my friends, an amazing steak birthday dinner, and he gifted me with a trip to the Jo Malone counter at Neiman Marcus to pick out my new perfume (I've been trying to decide on one since November!)...couldn't think of a better way to turn 22 :)
