Can you guess what my inspiration for this week is? After a moody, gray week, I think it's time to bite into something sweet!
San Francisco is known for its fog, but I was surprised at how infrequently it rained when I first moved here; we get nearly non-stop rain for a week or two, and stay fairly dry after that. John and I agreed over Indian food and Midnight in Paris Friday night that we'd spend the whole weekend curled up next to each other while the thunderstorm we'd been promised raged outside, but of course, the spectacular storm never came! I still spent nearly all of Saturday in my pjs nursing a terrible headache with an SVU marathon until we took a stroll through Golden Gate Park late that afternoon; we returned home with fresh fish and plenty of perfectly ripe avocados for tacos and guacamole, but I ended up sipping on a limeade instead of the margarita I really wanted.
After a series of terrifying SVU-inspired nightmares on both sides of the bed, John and I were up early for coffee, grapefruit juice and the Sunday New York Times. We washed dishes and dusted before my dear friend Audrey, visiting from Germany, arrived–let's be honest, no one's house is always guest-ready! We gossiped, giggled and talked music over lunch at Social Kitchen, then John and I headed home to tackle our to-do lists. We couldn't resist a few more episodes of SVU that afternoon (why is it that it's so hard to stop watching?), but I finally dragged myself out of bed and away from Benson and Stabler for a little yoga while the sun was still shining. We capped off the evening with two bowls of pesto, a food exclusively associated with spring and summer meals in my family, and a coupe of mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Tell me, what were you up to this weekend?

Ive been sucked into too many SVU marathons! My sister was in town this weekend so it was more birthday celebrations, then last night Jared and I watched way too many Mad Men episodes on Netflix. We're trying to watch all 4 seasons before the 5th starts next week and we have a long way to go. Oops.
ReplyDeleteEmma and I love our couch-potato days. I'm not even ashamed to admit I'd lie down and watch cartoons with her because we both get to be lazy. I love it. I also love visitors, giggles and rain. It is extremely rainy and foggy here and even though it's getting a little too much I try to remind myself that Summer will be hot as hell so I must enjoy this weather ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy week!!!!

ReplyDeleteYAY! Pink week is here! I am so excited, Lena. No, seriously. Are you telling me there was no indian food this weekend? What what? I love a good SVU marathon. XO
ReplyDeleteI always enjoying reading about your weekends!!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend I finally rode a bike after a 15+ year hiatus.
San Francisco is funny with it's weather...it rarely actually rains there. Hope you have a good start to the week.
ReplyDeleteIs that ring for real? How gorgeous is the shape and cut! It's almost as pretty as a ring that belongs to someone really special to me :) Adore you today and always Miss Lena! xo
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing. I always look forward to hearing how your weekend went =)
ReplyDeleteHaha! SVU episodes always freak me out! That's part of the reason why I didn't spend a summer alone in NYC last year.
ReplyDeleteI love that you dusted for your friend. I would never have thought of that haha!
I felt/feel like this with 24. I still have a few more seasons to watch!
ReplyDeleteI heart pesto. I make a pretty mean kale-walnut pesto (aka winter pesto), but I like the good old-fashioned basil kind too. Yum!
You know, I've never seen an episode of SVU. I always seem to catch it right in the middle and cant understand whats going on so I just change the channel. I should give it a try since everyone I know loves it.
ReplyDeleteAww, I hope your headache's gone by now. Mint chocolate chip ice cream is delicious (:
ReplyDeleteOh your weekends always sound so lovely Lena :)
ReplyDeleteAnd this one is making my mouth water... tacos, pesto, mint chocolate chip (my favorite) ... mmmm.

ReplyDeletePink week! So fun! :) My weekend was spent enjoying the last of spring break with my family. It was so relaxing, and nothing beats a week's worth of my mom's cooking after how boring my own cooking gets!
