Magical

When I first spotted this gorgeous wedding on Style Me Pretty a few weeks ago, I was struck by the loveliness of the setting–and the fact that it's just a few short blocks from where John and I live! The Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden will be in full bloom soon, and I'm so excited for the way it heralds the start of San Francisco spring!

The weather this weekend was simply gorgeous, and John and I did our best to soak up the sunshine. We celebrated Friday evening with our customary Indian feast, and were sound asleep before 10pm, which might be excusable if we hadn't also fallen asleep at the same time on Saturday night!

We were up early on Saturday morning, and while John cleaned house I finally finished the Paris Wife (with tears streaming down my cheeks). After a late morning brunch, we curled up to spend a little quiet time together before we headed downtown; John spent the afternoon in rehearsal while I the latest issue of Matchbook magazine and my favorite blogs on SFCM's 6th floor patio. We met friends for 1794s and Campari and sodas at Absinthe, then headed home for a light supper and an early bedtime.

While John was hobnobbing with hipsters at our favorite coffee shop, Trouble, I spent Sunday morning devouring Anna Quindlen's Being Perfect–a truly amazing read. We started cooking an enormous breakfast around 10:30am, and only sat down to eat just before noon! After a stroll to the beach (the weather was too beautiful to resist), I settled in with a glass of freshly squeezed limeade and got to work checking things off my to-do list. I spent some time upside down in my favorite yoga poses, then lounged in a bubble bath with the house all to myself. A bowl of pesto and a glass of rosé in my pjs was the perfect ending to a wonderful weekend, and a restorative start to a busy week!

Tell me, what were you up to this weekend?

  4. That venue is to die for!! So, SO beautiful!
Glad you had a nice relaxing weekend! This weekend was not my best, as coming down with a cold right as midterms and magazine deadlines are coming up is less than ideal, but I'm trying to fight it off quickly with lots of tea from my cute turquoise teapot :)
