A mint green one, of course! Everyone's been talking about mint recently (I'm not so sure that Pantone got it right with Tangerine Tango...) and this week is inspired by the shade that's at once soothing and celebratory! Good friend and fellow blogger Kira of in stitches and I have even been using the shade as a call to calm–when you're feeling overwhelmed this week, just think mint!
John and I had been looking forward to Indian food on Friday night all week and wanted to celebrate his acceptance to the Professional Studies program at SFCM, so we headed straight there after the day was done–imagine our surprise when we learned that they'd be moving Tuesday afternoon, and that this would be our last meal there! We over-ordered and then headed home to watch The American, which put me fast asleep in under 30 minutes.
After a very long night's sleep, I dove into my latest read with a cup of tea and a slice of brioche toast before heading to lunch with a girlfriend. Cocoa and grilled cheeses at The Grove turned into a glass of wine at Arlequin as the puddles grew deeper; I headed home to curl up with John while the rain lashed against our windows, and spicy stir-fried green beans kept us warm as the storm raged on.
We woke up early on Sunday morning and ran errands–soon the house was spotless, the towels freshly fluffed and breakfast on the table. John took over the study to practice scales and repertoire for his upcoming Masters recital while I happily blogged away at our kitchen table, my favorite sunny spot for weekend work. We blended up berry-coconut milk smoothies for lunch before heading to Symphony Parnassus' matinee–I'm a sucker for Strauss and John was excited to hear Clarice Assad's SCATTERED after listening in on her practice all week. We grabbed all the fixings for fish tacos on our way home, but before we got to dinner, I practiced yoga in the sunshine. After all that downward-dogging and warrior posing, the margarita John made was the perfect way to say goodbye to a wonderful weekend.
Tell me, what were you up to–picnicking in the warm grass, trying out new recipes, or doing a bit of spring cleaning?

And while it may be Monday, I have a little giveaway to announce later today that's certain to brighten the start of the work week! Check back in just a bit to see what I've got up my sleeve!

I love your weekend posts. It's one of the reasons why I'm pushing myself to take a real weekend off... This one also reminds me I need to read more books ;) xo
ReplyDeleteWe watched a lot of Mad Men to get ready for last nights premiere, I finished a book, and the house got cleaned. Boring? Yes. Needed? Absolutely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious sounding weekend as always!! I have become slightly obsessed with fish tacos lately!! Hooray for mint!!!
ReplyDeletei hope you can find a replacement indian place! what a bummer!! but sounds like aside from that, it was a lovely weekend :) i am not ready for the week to start! this weekend was a lazy one for us and it was just great. i was so happy to see mad men return last night! xoxo jillian:: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous chapel! That color is just the best..
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds heavenly! I envy your reading-and-brioche-ing. Even though I just had my spring break, I did a lot of traveling and I'm not sure I'd necessarily consider it that much of a break. I need another week to just lay around my apartment! But no. I have two conference presentations to get ready AND as a psych major, to graduate, we have to take this comprehensive GRE type psychology test and that's Friday so I'm all asdlfksadlfkjasdlfkaj about it, ya dig? Ugh. haha
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I so envy your lovely weekend and congrats to John! Ah if only it weren't Monday already. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteFirst, you are so right about mint.... so, so right!! Second... happy that it's Monday and i get to read about another one of your weekends!! xo
ReplyDeleteIf I could adjust one thing about my boyfriend it would be to somehow make him more of a morning person! Getting up early to clean and then having a tidy apartment for the rest of the weekend is my absolute heaven! I can't really complain though - he works so hard and deserves his sleep-ins.
ReplyDeleteWe took long walks with the dog, got our first sunburns of the year, and then watched hours upon hours of basketball and celebrated a Kansas win with a good old fashioned street party in the middle of downtown :)
A mint chapel! I've never seen anything like it.
ReplyDeleteI love your indian food and fish taco obsession. A lady after my own heart.
I can relate. A few years ago, my favorite Chinese place went out of business and since, I haven't been able to find one as good. Many have come very close...but none can top my beloved Wa Wa Kitchen.
ReplyDeleteYour weekends always sound so delightful and delicious!
Oh no, you guys love that Indian restaurant! Bummerhood.
ReplyDeleteCompletely in love with this sweet chapel...I want to hunt it down and get married there!
ReplyDeleteI love this color... so beautiful! Can't wait for the rest of the week! We are definitely in the midst of spring cleaning with a visit from the family coming up in the next few weeks. :)
ReplyDeleteI am starting to get really excited for John! We need to email. I miss chattin'. xo
ReplyDeleteholy hell! that is one beautiful chapel. is that sacrilegious?
ReplyDeleteA mint church? Stop it!
ReplyDeleteI just love your weekend posts! I really admire how you spend your leisure time - you two are so cute and definitely live life to the fullest! xoxo
ReplyDeleteberry coconut smoothies sound absolutely divine right now (10 PM on a Wednesday night). I think I might just go eat some strawberries out of the bowl in the fridge because I am super lazy and can't be bothered to retrieve the blender from the top cabinet.
ReplyDeleteOh, and BIG HUGE QUADRUPLE HOORAY for John!!!
You have the best weekend posts... or maybe just the best weekends! Such a lovely routine you two have. I need to do more of what you do and less harried running around. (Maybe one of these days I need to drop my church gig... but it's just such easy money for something I'd do most of the time anyway! Would be nice to have those mornings free, though...)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to John on the professional studies program! Oh, and I love mint as well -- tangerine schmange.rine (Pantone schmantone?) :)
