Blushing Bride

Audrey, our visitor last weekend, remarked on our liquor cabinet, teasing me that it was exactly what you'd all expect to see from someone who posts a weekly cocktail. Believe it or not, I try to steer clear of drinks I don't already have the ingredients for (or couldn't get with relative ease), as well as things John won't let us keep in the house, including peach schnapps, watermelon Pucker and sour mix. I usually see the Blushing Bride listed as a Champagne cocktail with forbidden peach schnapps, but this recipe, courtesy of Martha Stewart Weddings, was too delicious to pass up!

Blushing Bride

2 oz passion-fruit nectar
3 oz Champagne
1/2 teaspoon grenadine

Pour chilled passion-fruit nectar in a flute. Carefully add chilled Champagne and grenadine; don't stir, but allow to blend.

Notes: As always, pick less pricey Prosecco or Cava for a Champagne cocktail; you'll never taste the difference. No need to sugar the rim, but it certainly does look pretty–cheers to a wonderful spring weekend, and a very happy birthday to Audrey!

Lena, I always live to visit on Fridays because you always have a fancy yet super easy cocktail to make. I love the color of this one, so girly. You made me laugh with the comment about John forbidding the peach schnapps... I think this is a guy thing :)

I love prosecco. Nobody gets why but I just do. I drink it... make desserts with it and this evening I will make some blushing brides for my friends... Thank you! Happy weekend!

John and I already have made plans to cook up some crab claws in a passion fruit butter sauce when I visit him next week...I think I may have to use some of the passion-fruit nectar for some pink cocktails too! Think he'll get suspicious if I ask him to buy grenadine? :P xoxox

Lena! This is such a gorgeous drink from name to color! Have you tried X-rated? It's my favorite with passion fruit liqueur. Now not sure where to get passion fruit nectar on its own to make this?
